Engagement Ring Style Guide

At Kayes, we understand that choosing the perfect engagement ring is an incredibly special and momentous decision. With over 70 years of experience in the art of a perfect proposal, we take great pride in helping you find the engagement ring that encapsulates your unique love story. At Kayes we offer a collection of ready-to-wear, handcrafted engagement rings, each essentially reflecting one of these six distinct styles. Here is a brief overview of the styles we offer:

Fleur - Solitaire Engagement ring

Solitaire

A solitaire ring, true to it's name showcases a single sparkling diamond on a band of any coloured metal. While a round brilliant cut is the most popular choice, a solitaire can feature any cut of diamond.  Dating all the way back to the 17th Century, many view this as the most traditional style, truly standing the test of time.

All eyes are on the solitaire stone, so finding the perfect balance of the 4C's is an important step. There are many different settings available when choosing a solitaire, from traditional claw settings, to smooth rub-over settings and settings that appear to make the diamond 'float'. Our trained jewellery experts are here to help you find the perfect balance and aid you in choosing your perfect ring.

Duet - Engagement Ring Styles

Duet

A duet engagement ring, otherwise known as a 'toi et moi' (you and me) is a ring set with two stones, set side by side, usually of equal size. Symbolising unity with your loved one, this style of ring was extremely popular in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, and has recently seen a surge in popularity once again. Adorned with either two diamonds, a diamond and a coloured gemstone or two coloured gemstones.

Halo Engagement Ring Styles

Halo

Halo rings create an exceptional sparkle and showcase a centre stone with a surrounding border (halo) of smaller diamonds. A popular style which was first showcased in the 1920's, the halo border helps to draw more attention to the centre stone, which can give it a larger appearance. This is a great option for those wanting as much sparkle as possible in their engagement ring. A halo engagement rings is also available with the addition of double halo or a diamond set band.

Cluster Engagement Ring Styles

Cluster

A cluster ring is an arrangement of diamonds or gemstones set in close proximity for maximum surface area and sparkle. A Cluster ring typically features a round or oval gemstone, surrounded by a halo of smaller gemstones. Today, the Cluster style has evolved and now often features unique gemstones shapes that resemble flowers or starbursts. This style of ring is a popular choice as the smaller stones compliment each other and create maximum sparkle.
